William Baran - Week 15 Devlog

Total Time: 3+ Hours

Since Thanksgiving broke up this work week, the total amount of work time is only calculated from about two days or so.

Level Design:

As the break began, Grayson provided me with a list of tweaks for my rooms. I didn't have a lot of time away from family to work during break, but I was able to get started on these adjustments when I returned. One of these tweaks is a slight redesign of one of my rooms so that has taken me some time to think of possible designs so I put that one to be done last. The other tweaks were for the first rooms where we needed to better translate to the player the capabilities of the weight. I changed the room to show how to use the weight on a button so players would then utilize that knowledge later in the room. While I was doing this, I came across a bug where if the player was on the moving platform and it was moved, even if the weight nor the player was touching a spike, the player would die. After a lot of troubleshooting, I eventually found the issue was stemming from having a hazard attachment on the bottom of the platform which was there to kill the player if it smooshed the player into the ground. After adjusting that, the issue was resolved. I also changed the brain's room to make better use of the body's slider in the second half of the room to ensure the body would use the button earlier on.

Trailer:

I touched only a little on the trailer so far. Andrew provided me with the new music track to use so I spent some time lining that up in sync with the video. Elisa gave me an upscaled render of the alphabet she made. This allowed me to make words that would show up during the trailer.
