This week I started making a repeatable background for our industrial-themed level 2. However, we decided to rescope our project again and merge level 1 and level 2. The themes will not blend though. We will keep it as an open playground esc world. The next background I was working on was fixing up (the now level 2) Stomach Lagoon's beachy area. I used the rule of thirds and moved the sand to the bottom quadrants and added more water and sky to the middle and the top quadrants. The last change we made was to the clouds (Figure 2). We want to use a cooler shadow scheme to fit the cool sky.

This week I spent a lot of time working on a water texture. I was tasked with making a 96x96 tileset (a lot more area to work with compared to the 32x32 I was originally doing). If you look below to Figure 3, this was my first attempt at creating overhead water. The team here at Spit It Out agreed that this pattern looked more like blue rocks than water so I decided to start over with a new pattern in mind. Figure 4 is my second and approved attempt at the water. It turns out that going simpler works a lot better for this type of look. Next, I took it and made it into a tileset. I love the way I did the top tiles in Figure 5 and am happy with how it turned out.
