William Baran - Week 13 Devlog
Total Time: 8+ Hours
Level Designs:
I spent the majority of my time working on level designs this week. I worked on finishing the final rooms of level 1 based on the feedback Grayson provided with his playtests. The first main issue was the spacing. It could still be compressed a bit more so that players can see more which allows them to plan more of what they want to do. I also adjusted the third room to make it more intuitive and interesting to play since that was something that was cited from the playtest. The last room did a redesign since it was stated to be a bit too complicated and a little hard to understand. So I changed the designs to be more simple and easier to read but still fun. We also established that a max of 6 gadgets would be in place for each room so that we didn't have to make more colored wires and complicate it even more.
Itch Page:
Originally I took the task of working on the Itch page, but shortly after I was assigned off of it and onto the trailer instead. Since I wasn't assigned to it very long the changes I made weren't very substantial. I added the new logo to the page, as well as creating a background so that it makes the page appear more colorful. I went into the description and added a short paragraph about the game, as well as including credits for all the people who worked on the project.
Trailer:
As stated in the itch page section, I was recently moved off of working on the itch page to work on the trailer. My work on the trailer is only minimal since we need footage to show off and currently, we are still transferring tilesets onto the levels. But, after talking with Grayson, I established a block out of what the trailer should look like and got some of the items in Premiere Pro. I added the logo for our team and the game into the project and the title theme as the background music to play during the trailer. The theme was a bit too long for a normal trailer length, so I spliced the song to shorten it. Since Andrew is the one working on sounds and music, I gave him what I had to shorten the song and get it similar to what I envisioned.
